It looks like the Fedora package has the sames patches that are also
available on Debian.
So this bug is strange.

Maybe the fedora package is build with the assert disabled. But I
could not find this in the fedora build and configuration.
So this bug is strange.


If you are used to compile programs by yourself I can help you find a solution.
