It looks like the Fedora package has the sames patches that are also available on Debian. So this bug is strange. RPM package: coolkey-1.1.0-17.fc15.src.rpm: Name : coolkey Version : 1.1.0 Release : 17.fc15 Architecture: x86_64 Install Date: (not installed) Group : System Environment/Libraries Size : 512434 License : LGPLv2 Signature : (none) Source RPM : (none) Build Date : jeu. 09 sept. 2010 00:33:01 CEST Build Host : x86-20.phx2.fedoraproject.org Relocations : (not relocatable) Packager : Fedora Project Vendor : Fedora Project URL : http://directory.fedora.redhat.com/wiki/CoolKey Summary : CoolKey PKCS #11 module Description : Linux Driver support for the CoolKey and CAC products. *** Contents: coolkey-1.1.0.tar.gz coolkey-cac-1.patch coolkey-cac.patch coolkey-cache-dir-move.patch coolkey-gcc43.patch coolkey-latest.patch coolkey-pcsc-lite-fix.patch coolkey-simple-bugs.patch coolkey-thread-fix.patch coolkey.spec Debian package: $ ls debian/patches/ 0001-Fix-working-with-empty-certificates-in-not-zero-slot.patch coolkey-cac-1.patch coolkey-cache-dir-move.patch coolkey-cac.patch coolkey-gcc43.patch coolkey-latest.patch coolkey-pcsc-lite coolkey-simple-bugs.patch coolkey-thread-fix.patch series spelling-error-in-binary http://patch-tracker.debian.org/package/coolkey/1.1.0-10 Maybe the fedora package is build with the assert disabled. But I could not find this in the fedora build and configuration. So this bug is strange. If you are used to compile programs by yourself I can help you find a solution.
