For what it's worth I have the same issue when I use printer-driver-foo2zjs, but the printer seems to work perfectly every time using hplip.
So I am guessing there is some problem with the USB interface in foo2zjs combined with recent kernels, because previously foo2zjs was always working perfectly for me.
