I've taken a quick look at your package, and noticed that it also builds fine with valac-0.16 (from experimental). So I'd suggest instead of changing valac-0.12 → valac-0.14, to use valac (>= 0.12). This way your package will be ready for the upcoming valac-0.16 release, which is just around the corner.
