The Chef release cycle was going too fast for distribution release cycles for a while, but we've all been ramping up again. Unsolicited, Praveen has been working on upgrading Ohai in #639787 and got all the dependencies upgraded, such as ruby-yajl in #639792. As noted we need to fix OHAI-327 to move that forward. Unfortunately solr was removed from squeeze in #602697, which is a dependency for chef-solr and caused its removal in #605277. Solr >= 1.4.1 has since been packaged (see #602696) so perhaps we're okay for now. There was talk of packaging Lucene 3 [1] where solr and lucene were merged, but I don't seen an ITP or any followup.
