The driver failed to use the reader. I would say it is a bug in the driver.

I had a rapid look at the driver source code for the version available in Debian: 3.99.5final.SP0. The driver supports the naming schemes libusb: and libhal: but not the new libudev: (file ifd/ifd.cpp function _findUsbDevByName at line 107)

This is clearly a driver bug. The driver API specification says [1]:

" If the driver does not understand the :libusb: or :libudev: scheme or if a new scheme is used, the driver should ignore the part it does not understand instead of failing. "

Maybe the problem is already fixed with version 3.99.5final.SP03. See Debian bug #657343.

Since the problem is in the libifd-cyberjack6 package I reassign the bug to this package.

Regards,
