To get debugging info the software needs to be compiled with debugging flags. As far as I can get it simply calls epstopdf foo.eps --outfile=foo.pdf on some temporarily generated file. There was a bugfix for some epstopdf issue on ubuntu in release 3.2.5. This fix might have broken klatexformula on debian stable. Can you install klatexformula from source and see if the problem still exists? Cheers, Tobias
