Hi, I have been watching this bug for a while with interest. I have tried and failed to find copies of the package referred to in a previous email. Since then I have been maintaining my own version of libgit2 for a library I develop. Recently I have had the time to enhance the packages I have been using to make them more applicable to the Debian project. I have uploaded them to mentors.debian.net [1]. So at this point I am interested contributing to the packaging of this library in what ever way I can, I am happy to try and find a mentor if necessary unless someone on this list is interested?.
