These symlinks are already setup under /usr/lib/distcc, so you are
better off just adding and removing that from your PATH.  From
README.Debian:
> conf 1) export DISTCC_HOSTS="localhost server1 server2 server3"
>         export PATH=/usr/lib/distcc:$PATH
>         make -j 8
