Sorry there but after all it is still happening, only much less frequently.
It looks like most times it recovers itself now, but once to twice a day I still need to modprobe -r ath9k, modprobe ath9k to get wireless working again. >From when I updated the kernel and rebooted it took almost 48 hours to fail for the first time (hence the previous report saying all was good) and since then, 1-2 times a day it fails.
