Package: xchat
Version: 2.4.1-0.1
Severity: normal

I'm trying to use a Socks server with XChat. It just doesn't work,
and instead connects direct without even appearing to talk to the Socks
server.

The actual server is provided by ssh's -D option, and I'm telling
XChat in it's network settings to use a SocksV5 proxy on localhost on
the port provided by my ssh setup.

If I set up xchat without socks support and run 'socksify xchat'
(dante-client is installed), then it works as expected, so the socks
server is working.

Could it be that XChat is compiled without Socks support? If so, then
would it be too much to expect the code to disable the menu options for
Socks? If there is an additional ilibrary that is required for Socks
support, then perhaps that could be added as a Suggests: field, as none
of the libs that are suggested or appear as dependancies for the package
seem to be related to Socks support.
