Package: cupsys Version: 1.1.23-2 Severity: normal I print from a Debian machine running Samba and cupsys to a shared printer on a Windows machine. If I configure a cupsys printer with an smb:// URL that includes user and password, e.g., smb://Matt:password/host/share, the cupsys printer works as intended.
Occasionally after an administrative change such as adding another printer via the web interface at http://localhost:631, the first printer stops working because the user and password information has been stripped from the Samba URL: instead of smb://user:pass/host/share, the URL has become just smb://host/share. I just watched this problem occur when I added a second printer via the web interface. Yet when I tried to repeat the same steps after deleting both printers just now, while writing this bug report, no problem occurred. So I have not found conditions under which I can reliably reproduce the problem, but this problem has occurred for me several times over the past few weeks. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-beth.12 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages cupsys depends on: ii adduser 3.59 Add and remove users and groups ii debconf 1.4.30.11 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcupsimage2 1.1.23-2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libcupsys2-gnutls10 1.1.23-2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libgnutls11 1.0.16-9 GNU TLS library - runtime library ii libpam0g 0.76-22 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libpaper1 1.1.14-3 Library for handling paper charact ii libslp1 1.0.11-7 OpenSLP libraries ii patch 2.5.9-2 Apply a diff file to an original ii perl-modules 5.8.4-5 Core Perl modules ii xpdf-utils 3.00-12 Portable Document Format (PDF) sui ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-3 compression library - runtime -- debconf information: * cupsys/raw-print: true * cupsys/backend: parallel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
