Hello, I think what jidanni is indirectly (very indirectly :) asking here is to have a simple command to configure a daemon not to start at book.
I wanted to say "you could use update-rc.d cupsys remove", but I've been told that it would be undone next time the cupsys package is updated. I've been told about rcconf, but it uses update-rc.d; it should be checked if it still has this problem, though. Either way, I think this bug should be retitled in "we lack a simple interface to enable or disable daemons" and reassigned to 'general', 'sysvinit' or something similar.
