I believe I am experiencing this same Xv problem with my Trident CyberBlade/i1 rev6a integrated with VT82C586 motherboard, running Xorg 6.8.0 and 6.8.2-rc2. I get green + noisy flecks using any Xv app, but ONLY when X has been put in a mode where either screen width or height is greater than 1024 (1024x1024 is the "Maximum XvImage size" reported by xvinfo). This applies to both 16bpp and 24bpp so I think it's related to dimension rather than amount of memory. However I notice the original poster had this problem in 1024x768x24 so perhaps these are two different issues. His screenshot URL is no longer valid so I can't compare. I have been unable to get a screenshot of this effect with Xwd or Ksnapshot, ostensibly because they don't capture overlays like the Xv extension.
This has been mentioned on an MPlayer list and a Gentoo forum, and a bug has been filed against Xorg. http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.mplayer.user/20932 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=736 http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=283851 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
