Package: libafterstep0
Version: 2.00.01-4
Severity: normal

When first started (i.e. when the ~/.afterstep directory is created),
afterstep sends an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED], containing
information about the system afterstep is running on. The user is not
informed about this message and has no choice not to send it. I
noticed it only, because the MTA on this computer was not correctly
set up and I received a notification about a frozen message.

I am not sure if this is in violation of any written Debian policy,
but it is definitely a behaviour I do not expect from a free GNU/Linux
distribution.

The code can be found in libAfterStep/session.c and is marked with a
"#if defined(DO_SEND_POSTCARD)". It can be switched off with a
configure-option.

I suggest to disable the code by adding --disable-send-postcard-to-developer
to the configure options in the debian/rules file
