OK.  You want to be able to invoke the daemon when you want it, and you
also never want it invoked automatically at boot.

There have been complaints about the complexity of /etc/init.d/xprint as
an init script.  I think your request can be met if I/we can find a
clean way to shift all this complexity into a /usr/sbin/xprint script.
Then you can invoke it directly, and /etc/init.d/xprint can become much
simpler (and still check /etc/default/xprint).
