Here's what I did to make it work (didn't make it before the bug being closed). Posting here so that if somebody else wants the solution quickly w/o waiting for unstable->testing propagation.
1) apt-get remove udev 2) cd /dev 3) ./MAKEDEV pty V. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
