I'd like to echo the last entry in this bug, and maybe amplify it a bit. I think it reflects badly (not terribly, but badly nonetheless) on Debian (OK, one tiny corner of Debian) that it takes a Google search to easily consruct a --showformat string for dpkg-query.
That's not what bothers me, though (I didn't spend a whole lot of time using Google for dpkg-query). What bothers me is the lack of response to a two year old bug report. A bug report with a patch. A bug report with a useful patch. What kind of impression does this leave on Debian users when helpful bug reports are ignored for two years? I've had the same thing happen to me (see bug 146264). It makes me want to not bother to report the next bug I find. Happily, most of my Debian bug reporting experience has been much better than that, so I'm not ready to give up yet. Yes, I'm aware Debian is a volunteer project, and all that, and I have no right to whine. But I still believe some Debian developers could be more considerate about bug reports (at least the five or ten minutes it takes to explain why a bug doesn't matter). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
