in fact, I'm well informed as both upstream/packager of wmnut and nut.
I'm currently taking over nut upstream developments, and just finished the wmnut port to the new nut API (as mentioned in the above bug) to be ready for the switch, not to have an FTBTS.
nut 2.0.1 should be released by next week. I'll then rollout nut debs, wait a bit, then upload wmnut deb.
