You are right, with xterm seyon works as expected. Starting uxterm directly 
shows the same problem:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uxterm
uxterm tried to use locale de_DE.UTF-8
locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Can you reassign the bug report to uxterm or should I open a new one? Maybe 
there is already one...
