Actually, they don't exist, and right now I'm not inclined to think
they're not necessary; instead, debpool simply runs entirely in userspace,
which means it *must* be that user, and relies on the default group.
Documentation about them removed, however, given their nonexistance...

Entirely a thinko. Fixed.
All of the above have been commited to SVN, and will appear in 1.0.10,
which will be prepared once some more serious bugs are cleared up as well
(or when it appears they won't be cleared up in short order).
