Dear timezone data maintainers, and Zakaria, I'm maintainer of timezone related package in Debian Project[1]. I got the following report from Zakaria <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
At Wed, 28 Jan 2004 11:06:09 +0700, Zakaria wrote: > On Tue, Jan 27, 2004 at 10:39:04PM +0900, GOTO Masanori wrote: > > At Wed, 09 Jul 2003 19:24:40 +0700, > > Zakaria wrote: > > > All above timezone are using wrong time zone name > > > Asia/Jakarta UTC+7 WIB not WIT > > > Asia/Pontianak UTC+7 WIB not WIT > > > Asia/Makassar UTC+8 WITA not CIT > > > Asia/Ujung_Pandang UTC+8 WITA not CIT > > > Asia/Jayapura UTC+9 WIT not EIT > > > > Please note that Makassar is the new name of Ujung_Pandang > > > Could you provide us the valid reference for these timezones? > > We couldn't check it's appropriate modification. > > The best I could come out is: > http://www.ri.go.id/general.htm#Indonesia%20Standart%20Time > http://www.bkpm.go.id/en/indobrief.php?mode=baca&info_id=14 > > -- Zakaria > Private: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo!: z4k4ri4 > http://pemula.linux.or.id He said the current timezone data (in even tzdata2005b) had incorrect timezone name about Indonesia zone. He suggested that the current LTM for Jakarta, Pontianak, Makassar and Jayapura should be modified to the new LTM as follows: Name: offset current LTM new LTM Asia/Jakarta UTC+7 WIT WIB Asia/Pontianak UTC+7 WIT WIB Asia/Makassar UTC+8 CIT WITA Asia/Jayapura UTC+9 EIT WIT Searching on Internet about these names, I find the various page say these new LTMs instead of the current LTM described in tzdata. So I request you to apply this proposal. Unfortunatelly the pages which Zakaria pointed out in above mail are not accessible nowadays. Zakaria, if you know another public documents about Indonesia timezones, please let us know.
