I'm just going by the dh_make output, > > ... and dh_make includes the disclaimer. > Do you know what was the rationale for this? the rationale of which I can only guess at. ./debian/copyright seems to be targetted as the 1-stop source for finding: 1. the copyright holder; 2. their license; 3. other relevant information; 4. the name of the person responsible for creating and maintaining 1,2,3 5. a public location where 1,2,3 can be easily confirmed, if need be This makes lots of sense to me, as Debian needs to continually reaffirm its freeness. Its really good to be able to say "What specific free license is $pkg under?", and then readily find out without having to download the source, or google, or grep, or ... The disclaimer, I guess, is supposed to be "relevent information".
