Package: nfs-common Version: 1.0.6-3.1 I recently have rpc.statd take over rsyncd's port, which caused rsyncd to not start. I think that rpc.statd should be assigned a port that doesn't conflict with anything else and that it should just use that, at least on Debian. There's no reason for it to pick a port at random that I can see.
