Dear Maintainer,

the graphical installer works fine on this notebook. The error occurs only at
the attempt to boot the installation. GRUB passes fine, than Linux loads and
I'm asked for the password of the LVM. Shortly after I entered the password
the mode switches and I see a bright (white and light colours) "snow" (a
mosaic). The mouse cursor is visible and can be moved (its a tile of snow).
But nothing more happens. There is no console I could switch to.

I couldn't load the common firmware packages from the (extracted) tarball
during the installation but I chose to use non-free software. I hoped that the
installer would fetch the needed firmware. Even in expert mode I didn't find an
option to select this task.

Boot method: CD
Image version: debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso from February 12, 2012

The process of installing firmware (and the firmware thing in Debian archive
as a whole) has changed significantly with Debian 12 Bookworm.

See https://www.debian.org/vote/2022/vote_003
and https://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/News/2023/20230219

So, (missing) firmware should be no longer an issue.

Closing this bug
