It needs code for each specific Python interpreter version and since it wasn't uploaded in a while, the latest supported version in Debian is 3.8. For comparison, the default for bullseye (oldstable) is 3.9. As such you always get Interpreter state search timed out Practically speaking, austin does not work at for Debian's Python versions. Upstream has several commits that add support for more recent Python versions up to 3.13 and I guess packaging a newer upstream version would make this package usable again.
