Package: courier-authdaemon
Version: 0.45.4-1
Severity: important
Tags: sarge

I'm currently running courier-pop3 and courier-imap. Right now, we're
retrieving user credentials through LDAP. Since no adduser script is
being run as users are added and deleted, we rely on the
pam_mkhomedir.so session module to create home directories upon login.

As best I can tell, some part of courier (my guess is authdaemon) is not
respecting this session module, or is attempting to chdir into the
user's directory before the session modules are being processed, which
is almost certainly a bug.

Upon logging in, the connection terminates, and I receive the following
messages in my system log:

Jun 25 10:53:32 hermes courierpop3login: Connection,
ip=[::ffff:192.168.3.42]
Jun 25 10:53:32 hermes courierpop3login: chdir "/home/stouset": No such
file or directory

Obviously, the directory isn't there. However, it *should* have been
created due to the pam_mkhomedir.so module being processed in the
session chain. I've verified that the module is working correctly
through logging in via normal means. Is there some reason that courier
is unable to handle this?

kernel: 2.6.6-1-686
libc6: 2.3.2.ds1-13

I am going to close this bug as I suspect it no longer applies to the
current version. If it still is an issue, feel free to reopen it.
