I think you're still misunderstanding me...
I'm not saying we should fix ghc so that it works with old versions of gcc.
I'm saying we should fix ghc (the deb package) so it refuses to install
(conflicts) with old versions of gcc.

Closing this bug report due to inactivity, since all GCC versions now
available in Debian support the '-no-pie' flag.
