Package: rhythmbox
Version: 0.8.8-4
Severity: important

Under certain conditions, rhythmbox displays a dialog that says:

cannot open play pipe

(sorry if I didn't catch the correct words, but it was something along
those lines).

That dialog keeps looping forever. The only way to stop it is to switch
to a different console (CTRL+ALT+F1) and use "pkill rhythmbox". This is
because the error dialog steals focus from you and it opens so fast that
it doesn't allow you to close the application.

This is a serious bug. At the very least, error dialog should be
displayed once and block every other dialogs to be displayed until the
user clicks "Ok" or whatever. And if the next error is the same as the
last error, same something like: This type error will be displayed once.
And stop playing or trying to play the next song in the queue/playlist.

Rhythmbox is a great app, but it's too darn unstable.
I keep coming back to Rhythmbox every now and then to see if all major
quirks were ironed, and every time I do so I discover a new show
stoper bug. I guess I'll need to get my hands on the source code and
start hacking away until I'm satisfied with it. No other player in Linux
has the intuitive interface that this app has. What a shame that it
takes them so long to get it to work (correctly).

I guess closing this bug was overdue :)

Anyway, as was pointed out earlier, chances are this bug was fixed in
the 0.9.x series. Please reopen if this issue remains.
