Package: ntp
Version: 1:4.0.99g-2
Running potato version of ntp witrh my ARCRON clock gives a clock fault.
/etc/ntp.conf has:
server 127.127.27.0 # ARCRON MSF radio clock
fudge 127.127.27.0 time1 0.017 # Fudge timestamps by delay of ??ms
fudge 127.127.27.0 stratum 10 # ARCRON is NOT an accurate clock
fudge 127.127.27.0 flag3 1 # Improve reported precision when poss.
fudge 127.127.27.0 flag4 1 # Large median filter to reduce jitter
and the log gives:
21 Sep 14:22:48 ntpd[465]: frequency initialized 13.528 from
/var/lib/ntp/ntp.drift
21 Sep 14:22:48 ntpd[465]: using kernel phase-lock loop 0041
21 Sep 14:22:48 ntpd[465]: ARCRON: V1.1 1997/06/23: opening unit 0
21 Sep 14:25:10 ntpd[465]: clock MSF_ARCRON(0) event 'clk_fault' (0x03)
21 Sep 14:31:40 ntpd[465]: ARCRON: unit 0: sending resync command
21 Sep 15:29:40 ntpd[465]: ARCRON: unit 0: sending resync command
21 Sep 16:27:43 ntpd[465]: ARCRON: unit 0: sending resync command
/var/log/ntpstats/clockstats is not updated with timestamps from the clock.
ntp is not able to read the clock, although the driver is correctly
refreshing the time every hour from the MSF. Net clocks were read
sucessfully when online.
ARCRON runs succesfully on the xntp3 software of Debian 2.1.
I have also tried a later upstream of ntp (ntp-4.0.99k) which has the same
error.
I am able to read the ARCRON using a home-brew program, which shows there
is no major problem with this hardware.
Kernel: 2.2.17 SMP
Libc: lib/libc.so.6 -> libc-2.1.3.so*

The patch seems to have found its way into the upstream source in the
