When I try to start a previously working aarch64 VM, or firstboot a new
one, I get the error on the console:
synchronous exception at 0x0000000d6910354
Note that the installer works fine and I get just past the grub prompt
before the crash. Guest is AlmaLinux 9.1 (beta or final).
If I point the VM at AAVMF_CODE.fd and AAVMF_VARS.fd extracted from the
previous 2022.08 package, everything works fine.
If I downgrade the whole package to qemu-efi-aarch64_2022.08-1_all.deb
everything works fine.
So whatever happened to those two files in the last three months is the
culprit, nothing to do with the guest OS or qemu host.
Relevant virt-install flags are below (cpu model makes no difference,
tried with a56 too, also tried with 1 vcpu):
--arch aarch64
--cpu cortex-a72
--boot loader=/usr/share/AAVM/AAVMF_CODE.fd,
loader_ro=yes,loader_type=pflash,
nvram.template=/usr/share/AAVMF/AAVMF_VARS.fd
It's a virt-7.1 machine type.
Libvirt 8.9.0-1
qemu-system-arm 7.1+dfsg-2+b3
Host is x86_64 Debian Sid, kernel:
