Package: python2.7
Version: 2.7.3-6
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/dh_python2
I was asked to help debug a package that kept being built with a
dependency on Python 2.6, even though X-Python-Version was set to '>=
2.7'. It turned out that there was a left-over debian/pyversions file
containing '2.5-'.
While I appreciate the backwards-compatibility with the older
python-central/python-support packaging metadata, IMO dh_python2 should
abort with an error if information is supplied in two places; or at
least the information from the deprecated source should not override the
information from the control file.
Regards,
