Unfortunately, this breaks architecture bootstrap. We need to cross build linux kernel headers rather early before we have a libc or a cross compiler. Despite being build-essential, we've carefully set up linux stage1 to not need it. Can we make the failure non-fatal? In the absence of a cross compiler, we could simply skip emitting the taint flag.
