Package: src:linux
Version: 3.2.65-1+deb7u2
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
Upon upgrading my linux-image-3.2.0-4-amd64 package from
3.2.65-1+deb7u1 to 3.2.65-1+deb7u2 it appears that my bridge device is
no longer able to pass (at least some) multicast packets.
I've reproduced the problem on two machines (on the first I solved it
by upgrading to the wheezy-backports kernel, on the second one I
ensured that the problem didn't exist before upgrading and that it was
present once I upgraded.)
I originally saw the problem when multicasting from KVM guests but it
appears to be reproducible from the host itself even with no virtual
machines running:
$ brctl show br0
bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces
br0 8000.0025904f1b00 no eth0
Reportbug has helpfully included the rest of my network configuration
below but let me know if you need more information.
Steps to reproduce using open-mtools:
1. On the host with the bridge run:
msend 239.192.0.100 5000
2. On another physical machine on the same subnet as the real Ethernet
device associated with the bridge run:
mdump 239.192.0.100 5000
When the sender is running 3.2.65-1+deb7u1 or 3.16.7-ckt4-3~bpo70+1
kernels the multicast packets are received. When the sender is running
3.2.65-1+deb7u2 they are not.
For reasons I cannot explain the packets are received if the mDNS
multicast address of 224.0.0.251 is used instead in the recipe above.
Thanks.
Mike.
