It has the following effect: Let's assume I'm downloading a file with a certain URN:sha1. If that checkbox is checked, any additional search hits for that URN:sha1 will be added to my list of sources for that file. This is a great feature. What would be even better would be if a search was automatically launched for any URN:sha1 I'm downloading. IMO the result of that search doesn't have to be visible anywhere (except as improved download stats). That way I wouldn't have to manually launch a search for things I'm downloading to improve my download performance. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'testing-proposed-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-1-686 Locale: LANG=sv_SE, LC_CTYPE=sv_SE (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages gtk-gnutella depends on: ii libatk1.0-0 1.10.1-2 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libglib2.0-0 2.6.5-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.6.8-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libpango1.0-0 1.8.2-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libxml2 2.6.20-1 GNOME XML library ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4 compression library - runtime gtk-gnutella recommends no packages. -- no debconf information --------------------------------------- Received: (at 323101-done) by bugs.debian.org; 26 Nov 2005 00:13:05 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Nov 25 16:13:05 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from succubus.progsoc.uts.edu.au ([138.25.6.6] ident=Debian-exim) by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 4.50) id 1Efngf-0008RK-7Q for [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Fri, 25 Nov 2005 16:13:05 -0800 Received: from wildfire by succubus.progsoc.uts.edu.au with local (Exim 4.50) id 1EfnVQ-0005Kw-Tj for [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Sat, 26 Nov 2005 11:01:28 +1100 Date: Sat, 26 Nov 2005 11:01:28 +1100 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: implemented URN:sha1 checks Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.9i From: Anand Kumria <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> X-SA-Exim-Connect-IP: <locally generated> X-SA-Exim-Mail-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-SA-Exim-Scanned: No (on succubus.progsoc.uts.edu.au); SAEximRunCond expanded to false X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-3.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00 autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 As per the bug discussion, this feature can be easily abused by spammers and both the bug submitter and upstream agree that this should not occur.
