On my old machine (a AMD Athlon(K7)), it worked very well (also Debian Sid). On my new Amd64 machine, the program sometimes hangs, uses all the CPU-time and creates a huge (several gigs) tempfile in /tmp thats name starts with 'magick-'. I didn't have time to trace it to the correct call yet, but as soon I have time, I'll do that. You can get the script from http://juergen.inimeo.at/projects/wallpaper.plx As the description on the website is in german only, here is a short summary. ./wallpaper.plx <a directory to scan> <inputAndOutputFile> e.g. ./wallpaper.plx ~/fotos/ wallpaper.jpg the script is very short. The problem doesn't occur all the time, but when executing it about 20 times, I always get the problem. regards juergen richtsfeld -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-10-1 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages perlmagick depends on: ii libbz2-1.0 1.0.2-10 high-quality block-sorting file co ii libc6 2.3.5-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libdps1 6.8.2.dfsg.1-9 Display PostScript (DPS) client li ii libfreetype6 2.1.10-1 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libice6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-9 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-10 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii liblcms1 1.13-1 Color management library ii libmagick9 6:6.2.4.5-0.2 Image manipulation library ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-5 PNG library - runtime ii libsm6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-9 X Window System Session Management ii libtiff4 3.7.4-1 Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii libx11-6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-9 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-9 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxml2 2.6.22-1 GNOME XML library ii perl 5.8.7-7 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii perl-base [perlapi-5.8.7] 5.8.7-7 The Pathologically Eclectic Rubbis ii xlibs 6.8.2.dfsg.1-9 X Window System client libraries m ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-6 compression library - runtime perlmagick recommends no packages. -- no debconf information --------------------------------------- Received: (at 334588-done) by bugs.debian.org; 20 Nov 2005 01:14:16 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Nov 19 17:14:16 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from antares.tat.physik.uni-tuebingen.de ([134.2.170.62]) by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 4.50) id 1EddmZ-0001hq-TQ for [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Sat, 19 Nov 2005 17:14:16 -0800 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by antares.tat.physik.uni-tuebingen.de (Postfix) with ESMTP id 326174A65B for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Sun, 20 Nov 2005 02:14:14 +0100 (CET) Received: from antares.tat.physik.uni-tuebingen.de ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (antares [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id 14439-05 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Sun, 20 Nov 2005 02:14:13 +0100 (CET) Received: by antares.tat.physik.uni-tuebingen.de (Postfix, from userid 1000) id 0DB964AD67; Sun, 20 Nov 2005 02:14:13 +0100 (CET) Date: Sun, 20 Nov 2005 02:14:12 +0100 From: Daniel Kobras <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#334588: no bug Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.11 X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new-20030616-p10 (Debian) at tat.physik.uni-tuebingen.de X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 On Sun, Nov 20, 2005 at 01:43:54AM +0100, Juergen Richtsfeld wrote: > now i had time to investigate the problem. the thing is, that the > exif-resolution is very often returned as a fraction number. the error in the > script is, that this fraction isn't calculated, only the top value of the > fraction was used, which resulted in a *very* big tmp file when executing the > rescale method. > > so this is just a user error.
