So, after installing or upgrading tpctl, I need to kill apmiser and remove the startup/shutdown symlinks. Since apmiser is not required for tpctl, perhaps it should be split off as a separate package. At a minimum, it seems that debconf should ask to user whether to use apmiser. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages tpctl depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.58 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.5-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libncurses5 5.4-9 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii thinkpad-base 5.8-4 Configuration files for thinkpad-m Versions of packages tpctl recommends: ii thinkpad-modules-2.6.12- 5.8-4+2.6.12-10 Device driver modules for configur ii thinkpad-source 5.8-4 Source code for thinkpad-modules p -- debconf information: * tpctl/need-thinkpad-modules: * tpctl/apmiser-installed: --------------------------------------- Received: (at 335089-done) by bugs.debian.org; 21 Oct 2005 20:56:14 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Oct 21 13:56:13 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from smtp-out0.tiscali.nl [195.241.79.175] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.36 1 (Debian)) id 1ET3vx-0001Hy-00; Fri, 21 Oct 2005 13:56:13 -0700 Received: from [82.171.132.56] (helo=aglu.demon.nl) by smtp-out0.tiscali.nl with esmtp (Tiscali http://www.tiscali.nl) id 1ET3vx-00077E-Gu for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Fri, 21 Oct 2005 22:56:13 +0200 Received: from [127.0.0.1] (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by aglu.demon.nl (Postfix) with ESMTP id 46A0C3FEC3 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Fri, 21 Oct 2005 22:56:15 +0200 (CEST) Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Fri, 21 Oct 2005 22:56:14 +0200 From: Thomas Hood <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> User-Agent: Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0.7 (X11/20051013) X-Accept-Language: en-us, en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#335089: tpctl: apmiser shouldn't be automatically installed References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> X-Enigmail-Version: 0.92.1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 Claude Rubinson wrote: > tpctl automatically installs apmiser but I prefer to use powernowd to > control my cpu usage.
