Package: gnome-session
Version: 2.14.3-3
Severity: normal
Hello,
I have desktop-base installed, but whatever option I select for the
desktop splash image is completely ignored by gnome-session: it always uses
its own image.
This behaviour seems logical if one particular user has selected his/her
own splash image.
However, when a user starts gnome for the first time, gnome-session should
use the splash image provided by the selected system's desktop splash image
alternative.
For an example, gnome-session UI may provide 2 additional options (besides
the "show splash screen" option):
- option to use system's alternative / user's setting
- if user's setting is selected, a text box to enter desired splash image's
file name
Otherwise, system alternatives and/or desktop-base become useless for this.
No reason for even recommending desktop-base package.
Thanks,
Daniel R.
