Well, AFAICT the required module (aic79xx.ko) _is_ included in the RC2 release of d-i. The problem is probably that d-i does not recognize your controller automatically yet. If you are using the netinst or a full CD, switch to VT2 when the installer ask you for hostname/network name and modprobe the module manually. Then switch back to vt1 and continue the installation. Please file an installation report [1] and include the output of 'lcpci' and 'lspci -n'.
