I wonder if it would help to sort the resulting 'Packages' file by ascending version number (after concatenation). See bugs #916838 (apt-sortpkgs) and #690210 (function sort_pkgs_perl) for some previous tentative implementation attempts, which didn't meet success ... HTH Regards, JH Chatenet
