Do I need to upgrade uboot on my brand-new OpenRD Ultimate?
It currently has 3.4.16.
It depends on what you intend to do. At lab, we have two OpenRD
Ultimate. The first run without any problem with an e-sata disk as
system disk and uboot version 3.4.16. In order to have the second one
boot on a micro sd card (install over network was OK) we had to upgrade
to a more recent uboot version. I'm not at lab, so I can't give you more
information, but I CC a colleague of mine who may help you tomorrow.
I hope it will help.

If so, do I just follow the instructions at
http://www.cyrius.com/debian/kirkwood/sheevaplug/uboot-upgrade.html
or is there a special binary needed for the Ultimate?
Thanks!
Rick
Thanks! I plan to run it with a USB Maxtor hard disk as the only mass
storage.
I installed per the instructions at the cyrius website. I did *not*
update the uboot before the install. Everything went well and I was
able to reboot after the install. So preliminary indications are that I
can get away with uboot version 3.4.16 for the time being.
But I'm concerned that there may be something more subtle that I'm
missing. For example, this machine will eventually be installed at a
remote location doing environmental monitoring. If there's a power
failure (not un-likely to happen given the run-time environment) I'd
like to be very sure it comes up when the power returns. If there are
features in the latest uboot that make it more robust, I'd like to be
able to take advantage of them.
Thanks, again!
Rick
