Sorry, I just caught your message months after you sent it to the list. I use my nslu2 in this manner with mpd and an audio dongle. The line out from the USB audio dongle can be plugged into whatever you want. The audio is stored on a disk attached to the nslu2 and using GMPC you can also stream tracks from any device on the network on which you have GMPC. I am not sure about this capability in other clients. Send me an email if you haven't gotten this working by now maybe I can give you config files and so on. jm
