Just a note that I removed & re-seated the cmos battery. This did not solve the problem. This problem has been present since i flashed the Debian installer. Would installing a newer image make a difference? From: http://people.debian.org/~joeyh/d-i/armel/images/daily/orion5x/netboot/qnap/ts-209/ (I will need to get my hand on a terrabyte disk to back up my existing install first).
