Hi Martin
it s 4.0r3 which is the one released in Feb this year.
I've reflashed it again, the 8 GB USB stick is clean.
But I still get the "
 No kernel modules were found. This probably is due to a mismatch     
 between the kernel used by this version of the installer and the   
 kernel version available in the archive. "
. Its not finding the addtional USB memory either.

I could go back to 4.0r2 if needed.
