Hallo all,

I’m Prashanth and I’m a Master’s student at the Technische Universität
München(TUM). I’m working on Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP and a bit of
Robotics.
I’ve been a long term admirer of DBPedia and the idea of linked data in general
for quite sometime now.

What I’ve done:

I used DBPedia’s sparql end point in 2 of my projects,
1. Pragyan:A question answering engine [1]: Tech: Java, Stanford NLP parser,
Dataset from DBPedia, RDF, OWL, JenaFramework, Python Django(for the frontend)
Code: https://github.com/Cookielabs/pragyan/tree/master/backend
<https://github.com/Cookielabs/pragyan/tree/master/backend>

2. Roboy, a student robot team: The robot uses DBpedia to answer factual
questions! (A team from TUM) [2]:
https://github.com/Roboy/roboy_dialog/tree/master/src/main/java/roboy/memory
<https://github.com/Roboy/roboy_dialog/tree/master/src/main/java/roboy/memory>

I’m particularly interested in the idea of using a "A Neural QA Model for
DBpedia”, as in both my projects I tried to parse the sentence and construct
the Spaql query by myself, but that was close to 4 years ago and I wasn’t
actively working on DL then.
The work done by NSpM team seems to solve exactly that, and I would love to
contribute towards that.

Being a user of DBpedia until now, I think GSOC would be a nice opportunity for
me to start contributing to DBpedia and hence give back what I took from the
community :)
Also, I’ve started working on the warmup tasks.
Looking forward to a warm summer.

Best regards,
Prashanth Swaminathan.
