The version question is easy. 2.0.x (where x is the latest point
release, which is currently 2.0.3).
The how many users question is more difficult, It's really a performance
question as DBMail can handle probably an almost unlimited number of
users. It's really a performance question, which will depend on a
multitude of factors such as size of accounts, are the accounts IMAP or
POP3 etc...
