[Dbmail] Moving to PostgreSQL

I'm about to upgrade from 2.0.1 to 2.0.3, and I was thinking of moving 
to PosgreSQL along the way. Version 7.2.4 is what I have available 
precompiled, will that be sufficient, or should I compile my own?
I've also heard about daily database maintenance that needs to happen 
(not dbmail-util stuff), what does this entail?
