in my experience, 2.x is more stable than 1.2.x

I patch and compile my own binaries because my schema is
incompatible with the stock DBmail setup.  Nonetheless I can get
this done (from a raw distro to a deployed binary with patches) in
about 30 minutes, so if that's any help, there you go.

This is my only unambiguous answer -- yes, yes, yes!  More so if you
need IMAP SORT.
