No Problem...

Hey Simon:
1) I would be very interested in knowing about your config for amavis and
what kind of CPU drain imposed. Are you running the AV on the same host as
dbmail and mysql or are you tcp to a backend for any or all?

I acually have got this working quite well since my first post... postfix grabs the mail, does its header checked etc, uses mysql to check for relay domains and correct users etc... hands it to amavis, which uses clamd and spamassassin to cleanup the mail then hands it back to postfix for delivery to dbmail.

The problem was the per user config for spamassassin. For this, i found, you can use amavis (This program astounds me!!), it has native db lookup and a table structure... so now i have a table users can edit thru a PHP script for editing their SA levels and also personal white/blacklists.

Here is the link that got the amavis/mysql lookup stuff going:

http://www.akadia.com/services/postfix_amavisd.html

It works great... There is not much load on the server, but then we have a grunty mail server (2x2.8GHz Xeon nocona, hw RAID and 2GB RAM). And yes this all runs on the same host - eventually we will move to two hosts one the mail cleaning and one DBmail.

2) I have just begun working on a mysql config and admin for postfix
'access' and a 'greylist' for smtp-policy. Likely in January I should be
pushing something out (http://library.mobrien.com/dbmailadministrator/)

3) Meanwhile I am trying to work spamassassin config into the package but
wonder, in a dbmail setup, how many people would actually run the works ( or
how much) amavis/clamav/spamassassin etc. on the same host.

Thanking you in advance for any feedback you might have.

Compliments of the season...
Mike

Subject: [Dbmail] dbmail, amavis, spamassassin and user settings

Hi There, I have our postfix => dbmail server (mulitple domains/users)
up and running with amavis/clam/spamassassin checking for viri etc and
this all works well.

I now need to setup per-user spamassassin settings so my users can set
the SA level (and then per-user whitelists/blacklists)...

I would really like someway to use mysql to store config for this...
Does anyone know how this can be achieved?

Thanks

Simon
