Hello,
Hello Satish,
I am asking a very basic question here.
You do not follow the guide how to ask questions as preferred in DBI
documentation.
Is there any standard instruction set
which can guarantee the successful installation of DBI and DBD on Unix env.
Yes, see http://cvsweb.netbsd.org/bsdweb.cgi/pkgsrc/databases/p5-DBI,
where is DBI packaged for Unix environments and running successful on
Linux over NetBSD, other *BSD over Solaris and AIX up to HP-UX and IRIX
(see http://www.netbsd.org/docs/software/packages.html#platforms).
I
tried this for last month of or so (using README files from DBI-DBD packages
or based on the search on Google and other CPAN sites) and came to conclusion
that there is no standard method which can guarantee the successful
installation.
Well, others seem to be more successful. Maybe you should hire someone, see
http://dbi.perl.org/support/ or
http://www.netbsd.org/gallery/consultants.html
I may be missing something here.
DBI docs at first?
Would appreciate if somebody can provide me full proof method for installation
of this.
I am ready to treat for this :)
I'm sorry, I read your questions before and always thought: This could be
everything, I need more information. Maybe he's just not experienced enough
to handle this alone and each question you ask him would move him into a
defense corner.
There're great tutorials how to build software on AIX ("Porting C Software
..." RedBook from IBM), the Sun developer forum and documentation is very
detailed and usable for any experienced developer and software integrator
who is coming from another Unix to Solaris. I'm pretty sure, for HP-UX
similar pages exists.
If you cannot understand them, you're well advised to hire someone.
Best regards,
Jens
