An experienced database designer/developer able to translate business analysis into a maintainable, scalable and performant Oracle database implementation. The successful candidate should possess good communication skills, and demonstrate working hours in consideration of European reporting lines. Manager sits in London; interview process will be initial phone interview with manager and then video conference. Business Unit and Department Structure: In order to capitalize on recent trends in the Soft Dollar/Commission and profitability businesses, Merrill Lynch set up a Global Commission Management GCM business unit. This includes wide ranging functions reaching globally and firm wide. Functions include, Soft Dollar/Commission and CSAs, Directed Business, Step In/Out and Give Up/In, Profitability and Exchange Costs. Team Specific Structure and Responsibilities: The successful applicant will primarily be maintaining legacy and new systems, reporting to London. Role Specific Responsibilities: Maintain legacy application, in accordance with business/technology requirement, using Oracle and PowerBuilder technologies. Provide additional Oracle development resource on new system. PowerBuilder development: PowerBuilder 7.0 native compiled application running on Windows XP. PowerBuilder 10.5 on Windows Server 2003. Database development to include: Database schema changes on 9i, 10g, and 11g. Triggers/stored procedures. Essential: Oracle Sql/PlSql, stored procedures, triggers, etc. PowerBuilder. Unix Shell. Secondary nice to have: Autosys. Financial Markets. Knowledge of FIRMVIEW. Knowledge of CLEAR.
